NATURAL CONDITIONS AND ECONOMY
An Cu is a plain commune along O Loan lagoon, 5,4km south of Tuy An district center. To the east it borders An HoaHai and An Ninh Dong commune;to the west it borders Chi Thanh town, to the south it border An Hiep commune; to the north it borders An Thach commune and Chi Thanh town. The whole commune has a total of 3.268 households, with 10.365 people distributed evenly across 5 villages ( Phu Tan 1, Phu Tan 2, Hoa Thanh, Tan Long and Phuoc Luong). The majority of people live on agriculture, the remaining 80% are in other occupation…In general, all cadres, civil servants and workers always demonstrate political courage, solidarity, always uphold responsibility in performing their duties; live and work according to the Party’s policies, comply with the Constitution and laws of the State.
With a natural area of 2.089.38 hectares, agricultural land area is 1.465.63 hectares; non- agricultural land is 619.40 hectares and unused land is 4,34 hectares.( aquaculture water surface area: 130.63 hectares).
Promoting the local tradition of studiousness, the cultural and educational career of An Cu has received great attention from the Party Committee of the commune and has achieved great achievements. The school system has been arranged and invested in to be more spacious, and the facilities for teaching and learning have been enhanced.
The commune has a railway running throught it and National Highway 1A passing through it with a length about 5,4km. There is a road along O Loan lagoon connecting 04 communes, which is convenient for tourism development here. With these advantages, An Cu has many conditions for trade and contact with the outside, and has traditional craft villages such as Phu Tan mat weaving village. On January 2nd, 2013, Phu Tan mat weaving traditional craft village was recognized by the Provincial People’s Committee as “ Phu Tan Mat Weaving Craft Village”. In addition, An Cu has a national scenic relic of O Loan lagoon, which is a beautiful landscape. Every year, O Loan lagoon organized a traditional festival to attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit and participate in dragon boat racing, fishing river, net river, shaking baskets....

In recent years, the economy of An Cu commune has been constanly developing , the economic structure has shifted in the right direction, many scientific and technological bringing about efficiency. Initilly, investment resources have been mobilized to expand economic development, build infrastructure to serve production and people’s lives, environmental work has been improved, waste collection contract have been life of the people has been improved; the strength of the great national unity bloc has been signed. Cultural and social activities have made much progress, the material and spiritial strongly promoted; the grassroots political system has been increasingly clean and strong. The effectiveness and efficiency of State management have been increasingly improved, administrative reform and democracy regulations at the grassroots have been well implemented. National defense has been strengthened, political security has been maintained, ensuring social order and safety..
An Cu commune is also one of the developing commune of the district with a contant economic growth rate, so the mobilization of people’s resources is favorable such as : Traffic infrastructure, irrigation, health, which have been invested in recent years and have been effective, along with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People’s Committee and the Departments and branches of the People”s Committee.From there, the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State in the management and use of land, minerals, and the environment in the locality have been promptly implemented by cadres, party members and the masses, creating high awareness and consensus among the people as the subject, the Sate issues policies and guidelines to support investment in local works and rural trasport.
